The Division of Study Financing hereby informs the general public and study-financing applicants in particular that:
The Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, the honorable Silveria Jacobs has decreed by decision of December 12, 2017 number 2017/1417, the following changes to the minimum academic requirements for the issuance of study financing from the Government of St.Maarten as a result of enhancements to the GED® Test Score Levels which went into effect on January 26, 2016 and amendments to the listing of most effectual schools:
A. St.Maarten, University of St.Martin:
- ·Persons applying for study financing with the new General Equivalency Diplomas GED® which went into effect on January 26, 2016, must have a minimum test score of 145 or (Pass High School Equivalency) for each subject to come into consideration for study financing.
- The minimum total test score of 480 is still applicable for persons applying for study financing with the old General Equivalency Diplomas GED®.
B. USA/Canada/England/Scotland or other countries:
- Bachelor’s degree (with the exception of medical studies)
- Persons applying for study financing to pursue a study on the priority list with the new General Equivalency Diplomas GED® which went into effect on January 26, 2016 must have a minimum test score of 165 or (College Ready) for each subject to come into consideration for study financing.
- The minimum total test score of 520 is still applicable for persons applying for study financing with the old General Equivalency Diplomas GED®.
- ·Associate of Applied Science degree
- Persons applying for study financing to pursue a study on the priority list on the level of Technical Vocational Education, with the new General Equivalency Diplomas GED® which went into effect on January 26, 2016 must have a minimum test score 145 or (Pass High School Equivalency) for each subject to come into consideration for study financing.
- The minimum total test score of 460 is still applicable for persons applying for study financing with the old General Equivalency Diplomas GED®.
C. Gifted:
- The required academic results for persons applying for study financing with the new General Equivalency Diplomas GED® which went into effect on January 26, 2016 to be qualify as gifted is a minimum test score of 185 for each subject.
- The minimum total test score of 580 is still applicable for persons applying for study financing with the old General Equivalency Diplomas GED®.
D. Most effectual schools:
- The following schools were added to the listing of most effectual school based on signed MOU’s with the Government of St.Maarten:
UVI@USM (St.Maarten), University of the Virgin Islands (USVI), Pittsburg Technical College, Flagler College, Keiser University (USA) and FSU-Panama (Republic of Panama)
- The following school was removed from the listing of most effectual school based on the programs being offered at National Institute For Professional Advancement (NIPA):
